Throughout the pages of the Bible God, our Heavenly Father is exhorting and encouraging His people to call unto Him and to make prayer a priority and primary pursuit in their daily life! He delights in our boldness in coming to His throne of grace and asking for big things! He loves it when we choose to spend time in His presence in prayer, meditation, and fellowship! God desires to bless us and to fill our lives with joy and peace and to strengthen us so we can be an overcomer.
One of the major keys to living an obedient Christian life and having a Powerful Prayer life is managing our time wisely. The Bible has much to say about the wise use of our time. We are instructed in Ephesians 5:15-16:
15) “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Learning to manage our time is very similar to learning to budget our money. Many people feel constrained by a budget, and worry they will have less money to enjoy spending.
16) redeeming the time because the days are evil.”
People who have never budgeted are startled to learn from the experience that they do not have less money to do things they enjoy, but more money because they stop wasting it. When we begin to discipline our use of time we will find more time to pray and meditate upon His Word because with a schedule we will stop wasting hours of time mindlessly clicking our TV channels or doing whatever it is we do to fill our spare hours. A schedule will bring balance and moderation to how we spend our time.
Jesus, our Savior, set an example for us by living a life of Discipline and Purpose. No matter how busy he was he took time to pray and meditate upon the Word. He was never too busy to spend time with the Father. It was the vital link to accomplishing His Spiritual Purpose in life. He burned with a Holy Passion that was especially evident in the fervency of His prayers. He warned all Christians of the dangers they would face when he said, “the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak!” His disciples slept when they should have been praying and we face the same temptation today!
It is easy to drift into a state of apathy in this lukewarm age we live in. The fire of many in the church is not burning as brightly as it once did, as they merely go through the motions as a good church attending Christian. Spiritual apathy brings many excuses, I’m too tired – too busy – or simply too comfortable to press on and seek after God. Bible study and prayer requires too much effort and work and it’s easier to click the television or waste our time in other activities that don’t require Spiritual devotion.
Satan understands the tremendous power of prayer and spending time in the Scriptures, and he is fighting to prevent us from making time for these activities. Blinding a Christian’s eyes to the need and urgency of prayer is Satan’s plan to stop them from being an overcomer. Schedule your best time each day for prayer. Pray with passion and urgency as you lift your voice to Heaven with Praise and Thanksgiving. God is waiting to listen and He’s intent on answering your prayers. Never give up nor grow lukewarm in your prayer life; Seek God with all your heart and He will answer your cries to Heaven.
What is the place of prayer in your life? What prominence do you give it in your list of daily activities? How many believers ever stop to consider that their prayer life is a key indicator of the condition of their soul. Without a healthy vibrant prayer life spiritual growth is impossible! Prayer is critical to a Christian’s growth and progress toward spiritual maturity.
Fervent prayer is the key that unlocks all the blessings—all the tremendous riches of God’s infinite grace and power. All of Heaven’s power is made available to us in prayer.
In James 5:16, the promise is made that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man will accomplish much!
We have been given incredible promises by Almighty God that if we will pray according to His will, He will answer and show us great and mighty things that will be beyond our comprehension and greatest expectations!
Is prayer the first thing on your priority list each day? How much time and effort do you devote to prayer?
The Bible says Watch because it is very easy to drift into a pattern of living where we relegate the precious privilege of prayer to a secondary or nonexistent practice in our lives.
Jesus exhorted us in Matthew 26:41, to “Watch and pray that you don’t enter into temptation; The Spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak.”
It is a daily spiritual battle to overcome our weakness of the flesh, and our procrastination in neglecting our prayer life. Satan will fight you tooth and nail to keep you from praying with intensity and diligence. We can overcome our weakness in any area through believing prayer. We can fight with all our spiritual strength and develop new power and discipline in prayer.
Brethren: Prayer has as many possibilities today as at any time in history, when we meet the conditions for answered prayer.
God has not changed—He still promises all true believers, “Call unto Me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things like you have never seen before.” (Jeremiah 33:3)
The problem today is not our Father’s willingness to answer prayer, NO the problem is that many do not have the time or energy to devote to prayer. Determine in your heart to be more diligent than ever in making prayer a daily priority, and God will Bless you Richly for the Time You Invest!
